DOWNLOAD MIXTAPE

I’m overcome with great sadness to announce that this will be the final Playlistings mixtape to release. Some of you may have noticed that past links have been removed by the RIAA because of copyright infringements. Although the VivdUnderground and the DKALife attempt to bring you each day’s newest worry-free tracks that circumnavigate the globe within seconds each day in a legal manner, we can’t guarantee that each track doesn’t slip through the cracks and somehow inevitably prevents a multi-millionaire from making that down payment on a Bentley covered in gold. Despite coming under fire from an organization that reminds me of the last few hours of a horrible episode of diarrhea (the aforementioned R.I.A.A. for the slow kids in class); Playlistings Volume 10 drops in a very pissed off fashion. Eat it up world, because apparently T-Pain has another BIG ASS CHAIN to buy.

The AWESOME tracklist emerges from the pile of shit surrounding your boy here, nothing new.

Just as the beautiful fury (a.k.a. Autumn) begins it’s annual decay, Playlistings 9 drops in appropriate fashion. Soak in the color while it lasts friends, because I have a feeling the most fun we’ll soon be having outdoors exists only while writing our names in the snow.

Break out the hoodies and hand warmers. Hold on tight.

UAC x DOPE Couture

Posted in Artwork, Products, UAC Updates with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 4, 2010 by bendey14

“Les modes passent, le style est eternel.”  For all of you that need a French lesson, the translation into English is essentially, “Fashions fade, style is eternal.”

An in-store collaboration between yours truly and DOPE Couture was set in motion last month.  The DOPE Couture HQ down in Indianapolis needed some installations done and I was given the lead by my partner in creative world domination, T. Hakes.

DOPE, the brand of clothing you’ve seen grace the chests of hip-hop leaders and cats with a solid fashion sense, is a potent taste of… well… complete dopeness.  Check ’em out, you wont be disappointed.

*Sigh*

Anyone know when Lupe’s next album will be dropping?  A while back I heard rumors of a 3-disc finale that would be his final farewell to hip-hop.  Next I heard of 3 separate albums released by June of 2010.  Next I heard that the album scheduled for a June 2009 release will be finally hitting stores in December.  All the different names floating around has been giving me a headache, I don’t know which is what, what is where, or what the hell is in this mixed drink right now. From my research I’ve gathered; Lupe’s pissed off at his label, which is terrible news because I’m pretty sure shit’s the way it is right now because of the Atlantic/Lupe Fiasco fiasco.  I just hope some progress can be made soon.

Due to my fetish for great typography and film, I think anyone who shares these slightly weird (yet awesome) interests should check out this vid.  The song is “And He Gets The Girl” by Lupe and features N*E*R*D.

I originally drew out plans for a very large series of canvases featuring Lupe’s LupE.N.D. album inspired art coinciding with the release date….but, I think I may just sleep on it for a bit.  Despite holding off on that project for now, I felt the itch to do some artistic expression, at least on a smaller scale.  Hope ya’ll enjoy this, I’d like to do a bunch of these (not just of Lupe) so let me know if you’d like to see more!

lupe-lasers-portraitDue to the recent copy+pasting+printing+selling+promoting+straight up stealing some of my art, I’m not going to be posting up any high-resolution files like I did before.  Thanks to everyone who has contacted me about certain projects in a respectful manner, I really do appreciate it.

Peace!

Lupe Fiasco breathes Hip-Hop

Last week’s Thursday night was something I have been looking forward to for quite a while.  The night started off with a nice trip to the bar with some of my professors and classmates…and my night concluded with another trip to the bar that left my roommate and I in a heated debate of East Coast/West Coast rap.  Specifically, Tupac and Biggie.

Now before I open the door to any verbal abuse via the comments section.  My roommate and I had to agree on one thing, Lupe Fiasco brought it.  In between our trips to the bar Thursday night, we attended Lupe Fiasco’s concert here on our beloved Michigan State campus.  Last year’s show was great, but this year’s show sealed the deal for me.  Lupe will remain in the top 5 on Bendey’s List of The Greatest Hip-Hop Artists of All Time.

Here’s a video explaining why.

The energy Lupe and Bishop G (his hypeman) brought was on a different level.  Period.  For some artists, going through the motions is all it takes to sell out a show.  But when it comes to Lupe Fiasco, you often fear he’s going to collapse on stage from exhaustion, and no it never gets sloppy… this man breathes hip-hop.  Aside from a microphone breakdown during the second song, everything was seamless and incredibly intense.  Even the show’s opener, Asher Roth, every US college’s current poster boy, did exceptionally well.  Despite a failed attempt to burn a University of Michigan shirt on stage, his performance was crisp and on point.

I’d add more videos from that night, but I’m still figuring out how to work this new camera, so here are a few pics instead.
