You’ve hopefully seen a few of these stop-motion animation videos before, but if you haven’t–step your game up: MUTO and COMBO.

This latest masterpiece from the talented folks over at BLU, is absolutely incredible. I would advise everyone to set aside 10 minutes for this one, you won’t be disappointed

…Big Bang Big Boom is an unscientific point of view on the beginning and evolution of life … and how it could probably end.

Nike “Abuku”

I realize I talk a lot about Nike, but how can’t I when they keep being involved in such cool stuff like this?!

The new Nike Air Max 360’s apparently have more air pocketed between the soles and feet than any other shoe. W+K Tokyo LAB came up with the great idea of showing this human/nature relationship with the “Nike Abuku” (which means “bubble” in Japanese).

Instead of me explaining the process poorly, check out the video below which includes some nice clips of it’s making.

So I caught wind of this on Fubiz today, thought is was such a neat idea!  The Vader Project is an exhibition showcasing the work from a wide array of popular artists and their allegiance to the dark side. Check out a handful of pics and the complete artist list after the jump. Some of these are just insane.

Sayaka Kajita Ganz is a sculptor native to Japan, but currently living in the US.  Her sculptures are stunning recreations of animals using only recycled pieces of plastic and metal, usually in the form of kitchen utensils.  Amazing!

Stop the Violence by Francois Robert

Francois Robert is a famous photographer with an incredible new series of work depicting society’s unfortunate poisons… with actual human bones!

Story is, a while back he bought a locker somewhere in Michigan with an unknown lab skeleton inside.  Fast forward a few years and voila!  Some beautiful photography after hundreds of painstaking hours.  “The bones are something left behind, a form of memory,” he says. “I try to treat that person on my studio floor with respect.” [The Bones of Francois Robert]

Yamashita Shadow People

ProfileLooks photoshopped, doesn’t it?  Oh, but quite the contrary my dear Underground, its the work of Kumi Yamashita of Japan.  She’s “bends” light around strategically placed objects and metal/wood templates to create her mind numbing installations.  Check out some pics below and her website here at Kumi Yamashita.  Truly amazing stuff.

Spraypaint Lights

Posted in Artwork, Products with tags , , , , , , on November 10, 2009 by bendey14

Caught this unique installation of spraypaint cans converted into lights over at Zek Crew.  They’re known for their “random and conceptual visual interventions.”  It’s just too bad they’re located in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

These recycled lights were recently featured in the Light Guerilla competition in Galerija Vzigalica as one of the top 25 entries.  They’re definitely worth a look.

I’ve always had the itch to create something out of all the empty spray paint cans I go through; I just didn’t know what.  Maybe I’ll take some notes from ZC and put those old cans to work.
